Stainless steel casting is a method of lost wax precision casting process. It is achieved by pouring molten stainless steel into a mold for solidification to obtain a solid stainless steel component of the desired shape.

Like other cast steel alloys , stainless steel is a commonly used material in casting production. When the product requires the performance and corrosion resistance of steel, stainless steel castings are the best choice.

Common material grades of stainless steel castings

· 304 -The most widely used austenitic steel can be called A2 stainless steel.

· 304L The mechanical properties of this grade are slightly lower than the standard 304 grade, but it is still widely used in casting due to its versatility.

· 316 - The second most common austenitic steel, also known as A4 stainless steel. SS316 is mainly used to enhance corrosion resistance.

· 316L- lower carbon content than 316 stainless steel, which reduces the sensitization effect caused by the high temperature involved in welding. In addition, it shows better resistance to stress corrosion cracking.

· 17-4 PH - most common precipitation hardening martensitic stainless steel, its use of about 17 % chromium, 4 % nickel.

· 2205 Duplex- has good mechanical properties and excellent corrosion resistance.

Application of stainless steel castings

Stainless steel has unique physical properties, such as extremely high heat resistance, wear resistance and corrosion resistance. Therefore, it can be used in different industries, especially in some harsh environments. The following are the main uses of stainless steel castings:

1- Food processing and machinery:

A large amount of stainless steel is also used in food production and storage. Almost all food processing equipment is made of stainless steel. The most common grades are 304 and 316 . 304 is basically the main grade, while 316 is used in harsher environments. Stainless steel castings have been widely used in food machinery applications due to their anti-rust ability and the most complex manufacturing process. Typical food machinery parts made by stainless steel casting process include: metal grinder parts, coffee machine parts, etc. The important reason for using stainless steel is not the corrosiveness of the food itself, but the use of stainless steel to speed up the processing speed and more effective cleaning. The advantage is that it does not expose the food to any taste.

2- Kitchen utensils and cutlery in the kitchen

The most commonly used stainless steel can be used for kitchen utensils and cutlery. For example: 410 and 420 grades can be quenched and tempered, so that the blade can use sharp edges to produce tools. Grade 304 (18/8 stainless steel, 18 % chromium, 8 % nickel), the more ductile 18/8 stainless steel is easier to process. Therefore, it is more suitable for objects that require many molding, polishing and grinding processes for spoons, forks and other tableware.

3— Ship mooring application :

Stainless steel castings are used in marine applications that require strong parts and extremely high heat resistance, wear resistance and corrosion resistance. Our stainless steel alloys for entertainment and commercial marine parts. The stainless steel marine castings can be polished to achieve mirror finish, so as to obtain maximum corrosion and wear resistance. We can provide electronically polished and machined new marine stainless steel marine grade castings, thus saving customers 40 % of current costs.

4- Medical equipment :

Stainless steel castings can produce various parts and medical implants for medical device manufacturers. We use many stainless steel materials, including 304 ( L ) stainless steel, 316 ( L ) stainless steel and more materials, to manufacture customized parts to meet the strict tolerances and dimensional accuracy required by medical applications.

Due to its hygienic and easy-to-clean characteristics, many medical equipment (such as orthopedic beds, cabinets and inspection machines) are made of stainless steel. We can provide more stainless steel castings, including: surgical tools, implantable components, operating tables and other operating room equipment, stretchers, wheelchairs and similar products, stabilizers.

There are many shapes of stainless steel pipe fittings, so the installation process is very convenient. Due to the high performance and durability of stainless steel pipe fittings, stainless steel pipe fittings are widely used in pipeline construction and installation. Stainless steel pipe fittings can be used for stainless steel flanges, stainless steel heads, elbows, tees, bushes, closed pacifiers, etc. Our processing capabilities can meet any processing requirements, such as threads. When purchasing pipe fittings, considering the application, these pipe fittings are usually made of 316 stainless steel, which has higher strength and more corrosion resistance than 304 stainless steel.

6- Pumps and components:

Stainless steel castings are one of the most widely used technologies in valve and pump components. Common valve and pump components made of stainless steel castings include: valve body, valve disc, valve cover, valve cover, pump body, pump impeller, etc. The complex design of the stainless steel valve body and pump components make it possible to manufacture any complex shape. The durability of the stainless steel valve body and pump components is sufficient to cope with demanding applications. Therefore, stainless steel casting is a cost-effective method and a popular choice for pump and valve applications.

6- Architecture and Construction

Modern buildings use more stainless steel for cladding, roofs and exterior walls. It has lower maintenance cost and anti-damage characteristics and aesthetics. Especially the public construction market. Although stainless steel rebar is expensive at first, it has proved to have good life cycle cost characteristics.

Other uses of stainless steel castings are: doors and windows, bathroom and toilet accessories, etc.
